The Relationship Between Medication Adherence and Quality of Life in Tuberculosis Patients at Sukapura Islamic Hospital

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis that has been difficult to overcome, partly due to patients' non-compliance in taking antituberculosis drugs (OAT). The World Health Organization (WHO) states that as many as 1.3 million people will die from TB by 2022. Compliance is very important in healthy living behavior. Treatment will be effective if patients are compliant in taking medication. A good quality of life in tuberculosis patients by undergoing a healing process, namely by taking medication regularly. Quality of life in tuberculosis patients is important to note because this infectious disease is chronic so that it has a broad impact on all aspects of life including physical, psychological, social and environmental relationships. This study aims to see the relationship between drug compliance determined by the ProMas questionnaire and the quality of life of patients determined by the WHOQO-BREF questionnaire. The research method used was observational non-experimental research. The research approach was cross sectional and WHOQOL-BREF accompanied by interviews of tuberculosis patients at Sukapura Islamic Hospital during May 2024. The number of samples in this study were 70 respondents by accidental sampling. Results based on the ProMas questionnaire showed compliance with taking medication in the low category of 0 respondents, moderate-low category as many as 2 respondents (2.86%), moderate-high category as many as 23 respondents (32.86%), high category as many as 45 respondents (64.29%). Quality of life in tuberculosis patients of 70 respondents fell into the category of very bad and bad as many as 0 respondents, moderate category as many as 26 respondents (37.14%), good category as many as 36 respondents (51.43%), and very good category as many as 8 respondents (11.43%). From the results of the Spearman's rho test, it was found that there was no significant relationship between compliance with taking medication and the quality of life of tuberculosis patients at Sukapura Islamic Hospital with a p value> 0.05
