UJI TOKSISITAS AKUT EKSTRAK ETANOL HERBA KROKOT (Portulaca oleracea) TERHADAP MENCIT DENGAN PERHITUNGAN THOMPSON WEIL

Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is a plant known to have potential as a source of antioxidants and contains bioactive compounds such as phenolics and flavonoids. This study aims to determine the acute toxicity (Lethal Dose50) of Purslane Extract (Portulaca oleracea L.) to mice (Mus musculus). The methods used include preparation of simplicia, making ethanol extract, and toxicity tests on mice with varying doses. The subjects of the study were 12 mice aged 2-3 months divided into four treatment groups, namely group 1 was given purslane extract treatment of 800 mg/kgBW, group 2 was given purslane extract treatment of 1,600 mg/kgBW, group 3 was given purslane extract treatment of 1,800 mg/kgBW, group 4 was given purslane extract treatment of 2,000 mg/kgBW, administration to mice was done orally with a single dose and death was recorded after 24 hours. The results showed that deaths occurred in all dose groups, with group 4 experiencing 100% death. The LD50 calculation produced a value of 3,198.8 mg/20 grBW, which is included in the moderate toxic category (500-5000 mg/kgBW). Although there were deaths, there were no significant toxic symptoms during observation after treatment.
