The Relationship Between Demographic Characteristics and Community Knowledge About COVID-19 in Batu Ampar Subdistrict, East Jakarta

Coronavirus Disease Discovered in 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease discovered in 2019. In February 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially designated the virus that causes pneumonia in humans as Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). COVID-19 is caused by SARS-COV2 which belongs to the large family of coronaviruses with a wide and rapid spread. The disease is transmitted through droplets when a person is in close proximity (within 1 meter) of a person. This viral infection can cause symptoms such as sore throat, tremors, high fever, shortness of breath, dry cough, headache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea in patients. Prevention of COVID-19 is urgently needed to suppress the spread of the virus. Public compliance with health protocols is urgently needed to break the chain of transmission such as wearing masks, avoiding crowds, washing hands, reducing mobility and participating in vaccinations. This research aims to find out public knowledge about COVID-19 disease in RW 006, Batu Ampar Village, East Jakarta in March 2024. This study uses a quantitative descriptive research method using 339 samples obtained by the Proportional Random Sampling technique. The results of public knowledge in RW 006 Batu Ampar Village, East Jakarta, there are 139 respondents (41%) in the good category, 188 respondents (55%) in the adequate category, and 12 respondents (4%) in the poor category. It can be concluded that public knowledge about COVID-19 disease in RW 006 Batu Ampar Village East Jakarta, is in the sufficient category. There is no relationship between gender and public knowledge about COVID-19.
